Aku sendiri selalu tertanya-tanya, "kenapa aku tak pernah untuk cuba chase the adventure?". Selepas berfikir sangat panjang, aku cuma boleh ketawakan diri aku lepas aku tahu jawapannya.

Aku takut, kalau aku cuba ubah hidup aku, aku perlu ubah semuanya. Kalau aku cuba ubah hobi aku, aku perlu ubah cara hidup aku, jadual aku, keperluan aku. Mungkin, sampai tahap di mana aku perlu untuk ubah pemakaian aku. Jadi, aku batalkan hasrat untuk chase the adventure.

Tapi, baru-baru ni, aku rasa, aku terjumpa satu lagi sebab lain kenapa aku tak pernah berapa bersungguh-sungguh untuk pursue the notion, 'chase the adventure'. Sebab aku dah malas kena tipu dengan 'masyarakat'.

Ye, aku salahkan 'masyarakat'. Problem?

I've had this former acquaintance (note 'former') once who spew shits like firemen in forest blaze, 'non stop and no sign of slowing down'. He claims to be a business minded kind of person with connection like a Pentagon's internet -- solid as fuck. He said that he can double, triple any investment made through him in a scheme that is guaranteed and backed by the top man in government. Being a good and sympathetic friend, I make a small investment, but I never publicize or promote his scheme. I know I won;t be able to guarantee anything so I'm better off keeping my word in my stomach.

Months keep coming and going. From 3 calls a week to 3 calls a month. Then it's once a month. Ultimately, like every no good weasel, he cut contact. He avoided me and never to speak to me again. Knowing what I'm getting myself into in the first place, I'm partly cool with the outcome.

Close to 2 years later, Mr. Brown came up with a fresh business and good idea and approaching me, wanting to do another business venture with me. Like that going to happen.

Lessons.

Stories without moral is like a broken pencil -- pointless. There's no 'water under the bridge' with this kind of man. His mistakes :

1. Putting himself in a cross hair with all his promise that was 50% certain he won't be able to deliver.

2. He never apologizes.

I'm not saying that I will never forgive this scum of earth. But his action of treating me like I have the memory of a goldfish really fucked things up. Sebenarnya, masa kecil dulu aku memang teringin jadi angkasawan. Antara sebabnya adalah kerana aku memang sangat mudah terpengaruh dengan TV. Aku selalu menonton siri Star Trek : The Next Generation dan Stargate SG-1 semasa kecil (ya, aku masih 'muda'). Pada aku, karekter yang paling cool dan paling aku gemari dalam Star Trek : The Next Generation adalah Lt. Commander Gordi La Forge, lakonan Levar Burton. Aku rasa, 'spek' yang dipakai tu lah penyumbang kepada aura cool. Tapi, aku tak pernah dapat menghabiskan 'remake' filem Star Trek moden, lakonan Chris Pine. Aku pun tak tahu kenapa. Mual.

Walaupun 'cita-cita' aku tu tak kesampaian, aku nak berkongsi enthusiasm 'melancong' ke angkasa lepas dengan orang lain -- secara interaktif. di Nasa Prospect, kamu boleh melancong ke angkasa lepas, ke setiap planet dalam sistem solar kita, sambil ditemani oleh kawan robot yang cool dan tak annoying.

Kalaulah semua jurujual kat Malaysia macam ni, memang aku pun tak menyampah. This dude = WIN.

Azam Ala Kazam.

Pada awal tahun baru yang lepas, aku ada letakkan beberapa azam realistik yang aku nak capai sebelum tahun 2013 berakhir. 

Ye, aku tahu. Memang masih awal lagi dalam tahun 2013.

Empat azam yang aku letak ialah :

   1. Banyakkan membaca.

   2. Belajar bahasa asing yang baru.

   3. Mula menulis.

   4. Self control.

Jadi, untuk azam yang pertama; banyakkan membaca. Bulan lepas, aku baru membeli beberapa buah buku dari pesta buku di sini (?). Walaupun tak banyak, dalam 9 buku sahaja, tapi aku rasa tu dah lebih dari cukup untuk kuota 2 atau 3 bulan ni. Yang penting, realistik. Dan aku rasa 9 buku yang mana setiap satunya setebal lebih kurang 400-600 muka surat, untuk 3 bulan adalah dalam lingkungan 'realistik' untuk aku.

Azam yang kedua; belajar bahasa asing yang baru. Aku dapati, berkebolehan membaca, bercakap atau menulis dalam bahasa asing boleh jadi skil atau kelebihan yang sangat berguna. Tak kiralah walaupun masih dalam peringkat asas ataupun beginner, asalkan ada keinginan untuk memajukan kebolehan tu, dah memadai. Untuk azam yang kedua, aku memilih Bahasa Perancis sebagai bahasa asing pilihan aku. Alasan? Baru-baru ni, aku ada menonton satu sketch komedi dalam bahasa perancis. Walaupun aku tak faham apa yang mereka bincangkan, tapi aku dapat rasakan yang perkara yang dijenakan tu memang kelakar. Masalahnya, aku rasa macam di perbodohkan sebab tak memahami lawak tersebut. Jadi, sebagai motivasi sampingan, aku memilih Bahasa Perancis sebagai bahasa asing pilihan.

Azam ketiga dan keempat, dengan yakin aku katakan masih sangat terlalu awal untuk aku kongsi, lebih-lebih lagi azam ke tiga; mula menulis. Sebenarnya, aku langsung belum mulakan apa-apa bahan tulisan. Modul, idea, draf kasar. Semuanya aku masih belum ada. Tapi, memang aku sedang usahakan perlahan-lahan sebenarnya. Dan aku harap, banyak membaca boleh membantu aku untuk hasilkan idea untuk mula menulis dan bantu aku untuk lebih cekap mengawal diri.

Intelligence changes the credibility and the way people argue. People who reads actually are more likely to have the argument goes their way. People goes from, "in the book 'This' and 'This', it mentions that..." to "you don't believe me? Google it yourself" and "dude, it said so in Wikipedia". It is so sad that the internet actually spoils people the wrong way.

I don't want to come of as anti-technology or anything. But too much dependence on iPhone or your smartphone can actually kills human intelligence. People prefers reading and arguing pointlessly in YouTube comment section rather than spending their valuable time actually reading a good book on humanity, philosophy, world icon's autobiography or conflicts and war history. When do Kim Kardashian become more relevant than Dr. Charles Vacanti?

Books are yours to choose from. The best part? A good book contain maxims that you affects your take on this world while very mildly changes your behavior and personality, only in a good way. A good book always lends you an idea and perception that the world is either a good place to live in, or STILL a good place to live in. It reminds you that there's some faith in humanity that you can invest in. A good book is like a best friend that can give you advice and will NEVER argue with you if you don't want to take it.

Internet is not all evil. It's just that quite often the internet makes wrong people rich and famous for a wrong reason in a wrong way. It also gives wrong people the power to make them do wrong things, but seems righteous in the eyes of wrong viewers.
